Yup, I do the same. Haven't lost a rhinestone yet, and the glittery spandex parts look fine.

Wash the uniform alone, in a full tub of cold water, on delicate cycle. Ivory snow liquid is a good gentle detergent. Hang to dry.

Do Not use fabric softner it loosens rhinestones, heat transfers and isnt good for the braiding.

Check the label, but normally gentle/hand wash cold and hang to dry. What else are you feeling lost on this season??

My only other tip--label everything with your kid's name. Warm ups, makeup bag, cheer bag, even sneakers.

It was great that our gym offered a discounted makeup kit...but all the bags are the same. We have team pinnys to wear as our required "cover ups" but again...all the same. DD has been harping on me to embroider her name on her cheer backpack. They won them at a Battle comp, and many of the girls are using them this season. Thank goodness for my embroidery machine!

Buy bobby pins in a ginormous container at the beauty supply. Then put a few in a smaller, labeled container in your cheer bag. Throw in a handful of hair ties. Those things seem to disappear all the time. Also throw in a pack of the makeup remover wipes if your CP is sensitive. Mine doesn't mind the eyes, but takes off the glitter lips as soon as possible.

There is plenty of useful threads and people on this board. This is our first season - and I have never been big into boards in the past but this has been great to get through our first season. Just have fun and enjoy - whether they are 5 or 14yo the time goes by quicker than you realize.

soak and wash in warm water in a tub. use mild detergent. rinse in plain water in same tub.. hand wring but not too tightly.. hang dry and then iron with a warm, but not hot iron... be very careful of the rhinestones...

Welcome to the wonderful wacky world of a cheer parent!! All the uniform advice here is good. Especially the one about not using fabric softener on embellished clothing and labeling all your athletes items. One thing that has been a life saver for me @ competitions is to have a small bag that has a long adjustable strap that I can wear cross body if I want that I have placed my competition essentials in. I have fingernail polish remover wipes, Motrin, Pepto, makeup remover wipes, antibacterial wipes, hair ponys, BOBBY PINS, small brush, small rat comb, small hairspray, BAND AIDES, tissues, a tiny sewing kit (like you get from a hotel) and a small instant cold pack (the kind you crack to activate). I store it in the duffle bag we carry to competition and keep it with me at all times. It has been invaluable on many occasions. :)

always wash the uniform BY ITSELF on cold/delicate with a delicate detergent. wash the warm up BY ITSELF cold/delicate separately. you will scream if you mess up a $300 uniform. put comp bow in a ziploc baggie and place toilet paper rolls in the loops to keep them from getting smashed. when traveling i have one small duffel bag that has all the items in it to get ready for a comp - uniform, hair curlers, curling iron, hair crap, etc.

backpack contents for comps: shoes, extra socks (you never know when you will need then or another kid forgot theirs), makeup, makeup wipes, water. and if your kid is younger put their iphone or ipod touch or whatever in there to keep them occupied when you have to wait for awards.

most important tip - send SharkDad a PM to get into the parent portion of the boards. that's where the party is. :shimmy:

I hand wash, as we were told to use a febreeze like product and not wash it..NOT!

I fill bathroom sink with cold water add All (allergy free) detergent and dip top/bottom in and out of water a few times, focusing on the areas that can offend others;).

undrain sink, fill sink with just cold water to and repeat dipping process (no detergent) to rinse...hold garment up and push water out of so its not dripping..,.

place garment on a bathtowel flat and roll towel and press out the excess water and hang to dry (not on a hanger)
