Hey guys, my school's cheerleading practice starts in a week and I'd really like to have a solid scorpion by then. I am almost there but it needs some work. What are some really awesome stretches I could do? Thanks

have flyers put their chest and hands against the wall (facing towards the wall) then have them kick up their leg and push it towards the wall (making the needle position) work it a lot! also the famous Gabi Butler in the door frame trick where they stand in a doorway and put their chest and hands against one side and kick up leg on the other (while standing inside the doorframe, the close space stretches it)

When you do your splits, lean backwards, onto your back leg. This will improve the flexibility in your lower back, making it easier to pull a scorp, or needle.
Also, the 'wasit' stretch in this video is VERY helpful! The stretch starts at 0:16.

*This is from my flexability advice page on my tumblr : dare2dreamcheerextreme

Follow these tips to get from a dorito scorpion, to a Straight Leg in no time!!
    1. Every one is different.
Everyone is different. Some people won’t even be able to achieve a straight leg just because their body won’t let them. And with some people, a really good scorpion( non needle/spike) looks a lot prettier than a straight leg. Just find out what works for you, and try to improve upon that :)
    2. Stretch Everyday!!
*Stretching is very important..and if you don’t keep up on it your dorito is gonna improve. The secret stretch to success, is to pull it. Just keep pullin’ that scorpion till your leg almost falls off!!! There is no better way to gain flexability than actually stretching and working all the musceles used for the particular stretch. Doing simple stretches(other than scorpion, itself) just stretch one part of your body. Unless it’s stretching one part that you really need to stretch out to get that straight leg, its not gonna fully work or work a fast compared to just non-stop pulling it.
*Other top stretches are the door frame stretches. Slide your scorpion leg(i recomend using your left leg to pull) up the door frame so you are basically in a split on the door frame, but standing. This stretches out your back thigh that you pull with.
*Also, try sliding into your split and leaning backwards. This stretches out your back while giving extra stretching to your legs and right heelstretch. When you lean back try to put your arms in back of you like you are going pull your scorpion. Try to grab your foot and hold it for 30 seconds. Each time try going further down with your back and back leg.
*Have someone stretch you to your limits. Remember: No Pain, No Gain.
    3. Correct Holding(Prettiest Holding)
    * The correct way to hold your scorpion is one hand on each side of your foot/ankle, with your leg straight in back of you(not to the side). But the way you hold/pull it varies on what you are doing.
*If you are in a stunt and pulling a scorpion that doesn’t advance/move or change into a scale, hold it the correct way with on hand on each side of the foot, and if you take away your left arm/hand to point or do some arm/hand motion keep your right hand on your foot.
*If you are in a stunt in which your scorpion advances into a scale, i suggest the best way to hold it is that both hands are on the right side of your foot(considering you are using your left leg in the air). Your left hand should be next to, but under your right hand and be more on the leg/ankle area. Your right hand should be next to, but over your left hand on the ankle, foot area. This way you can just let go with your right hand and pull your scorpion into the scale without having to move or adjust your hands to change it. Remember to have your leg as far behind(straight behind you) as you can.(Not to the side).
    4. How to be pretty with your scorpion/scale in the air:
When pulling your scorpion into a scale, don’t pull your scorpion down so that your knee bends and looks like a dorite scorp!!! Make sure to just let go with your right hand and go straight into a scale. It looks so much prettier!! Plus, the extra pulling can strain or slightly pull a muscele if you don’t strech enough.
    5. Stretch your arms!!! The flexability of your aems can really be the difference of having a nice scorpion to a needle. Just stretch them out a couple times a day and you should be good :)

i used to be a base but after a year of hard core stretching i am now very flexible!
    the best strech to do*
hyper extended split: put two panel mats across from each other and split by putting each leg on each one put ur hips on the ground and reach backwards. also tell someone to pick up either ur back or front leg.
